Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK) and Den Hirschsprungske Samling invites you to “Wikipedia networking”.

As art historian and art lover you can help to ensure the quality and depth of Wikipedia’s articles on Danish art.

If you need help getting started or if you feel like sparring with others on writing about art on Wikipedia, then this is an event for you.

In April and May Statens Museum is hsoting two workshops. The experienced Wikipedian Néné La Beet gives an introduction and helps new editors getting started, and during Fall we will host “writing afternoons”, where you can get help and guidance.

The occasion is that more and more of the works of the Museums are made available online and can thus illustrate articles in Wikipedia. New and old wikipedians with art historic knowledge has, given this digitised material, good possibilities to write and improve articles on Wikipedia.

The events are free and will be hosted by Statens Museum for Kunst.

Write an e-mail to Museum Director Anna Schram Vejlby at annvej@hirschsprung, if you wish to participate.

This project seeks to address and counter Wikipedias well-documented gender bias in practice and theory. It will do so by arranging feminist edit-a-thon on March 8 2015 and March 9 2015 with a connected academic symposium on the morning of March 9. The edit-a-thon will be dedicated to train new editors to write 30 new articles and expand selected stubs in Danish and English on notable female figures, primarily female artists and scientists, plus a few female topics.
